Responsible Management Education: Sustainable Leadership in the era of Climate Change
On 24 November, the Copenhagen Business School hosted Seal The Deal as part of an international conference on “Responsible Management Education: Sustainable Leadership in the era of Climate Change”.
A tangible outcome of the conference was The Copenhagen Conference Declaration: A Call to Action for Management Education that set out three focus areas for the role of business schools in relation to climate change. These were to :
- Integrate Climate-related Topics into Management Education
- Research the Role of Business in a Low Carbon Economy
- Lead by Example
The workshop come up with four outcomes :
- Business Demands for Climate Change Competencies and 4 particular competencies relevant to business organisations
- New Approaches to Curriculum Change and 4 best practices for revamping the curriculum
- Student Demand for Climate Change Education and 4 concrete ideas for how to satisfy the demand from students
- Social science and business theory contribution to solving of the climate challenge and 4 most important research topics to focus on
The input from the conference will be used by the “PRME Working Group on Climate and Curriculum Change” that was formally launched during the conference to produce a Practical Guide to Climate and Curriculum Change to be presented Summer 2010.
